Frequently asked questions

 

How do I upload my child’s portfolio?

If you could please email the portfolio to the below address with your child’s full name and HPGE application stream in the subject line eg: TEST STUDENT, HPGE Year 7 – 2025.

What if I miss the 24th May cut-off date for registration?

It is imperative that all registrations are finalised by 11.59pm on the 24th May, as any late submissions will not be accepted

What happens if my child is sick or can’t attend on the day?

Unfortunately, if your child is unable to attend on the day there will not be scheduled catch up examination. If there is a forecasted risk for non-attendance and would like a refund, please refer to the refund section below.

Is there onsite parking?

Parking at RBHS is limited. The only available carpark is through the Rainbow Street entrance. This carpark is shared with the Polish school on a Saturday, so spots will be limited. There is parking in surrounding areas, however if you are dropping your child off on the day, please ensure that this is done quickly to limit congestion.

When should we arrive for the examination? When can I pick up my child?

Arrival time: 8:20am

Conclusion of examination: 12:30pm

Where will the examination take place?

Randwick Boys’ High School hall. This is located in the Southeastern corner of the school, adjacent to the basketball courts and the carpark.

What is in the examination?

The test comprises of 4 sections – 3 multiple choice (General Reasoning and Problem Solving, Maths, Reading) and a written task. Each test is approximately 40 – 50 minutes apart from writing which is 25 minutes.

Can I access practise examinations?

The practise tests that are available to purchase through Academic Assessment Services. These are shorter in length but are helpful study tools.

What will happen after the examination?

Results are estimated to arrive three weeks after the testing date. If the process takes longer than anticipated, the school will provide an update to all prospective parents.

When will I find out if my child is successful in gaining a place in the HPGE stream?

Our processes will be finalised after consultation with the new principal. As previously stated at the parent information evening, portfolios will need to be reviewed and final interviews may take place. This will be communicated to all parents/guardians with adequate time.

Refund Policy

What will happen if a registration is withdrawn prior to the testing closing date?

For an online registration, Academic Assessment Services will retain 20% of the registration fee to cover transaction and administrative costs. The balance will be returned to the applicant.

What if a registration is withdrawn after the closing date?

No refund will be given.

What if a late registration is withdrawn?

No refund will be given.

What if the applicant does not attend the testing day?

No refund will be given.
