Intensive English High School test

All new arrivals from non-English-speaking countries must complete a test at the Intensive English High School (IEHS). The address is Corner Cleveland Street and Chalmers Street, Redfern and contact phone number is 02 9319 4806.

Tests take place at 9am every Tuesday.  Please be there by 8:45am along with passport.

To reach via bus, please catch 372 from Coogee/Randwick or 393/395 from Kingsford or 343 from Eastlakes. Get off at the stop before the central station.

To reach via train, please alight at the central station and use the Devonshire Street exit. Turn right and walk approximately 200 metres along Chalmers Street to the IEHS.

The test takes approximately one and a half hours. The results are given at its completion.

Depending on the student's English ability, the outcome will be either:

  • Satisfactory English language skill. A result sheet will be issued which means the student can enrol directly at RBHS. Follow the above enrolment procedures. Bring a copy of the English test result, or
  • The student needs to work on his English skills by enrolling at the IEHS. Once the English skills are up to a certain level, he can then enrol at Randwick Boys High School.

Staff at the IEHS arrange this. Randwick Boys High School cannot enrol students without the authority of the IEHS.
