Randwick Boys High School (RBHS) considers the merit certificate system an important part of our welfare and discipline system.
The staff at RBHS acknowledge that students can excel in many areas, such as:
- academia
- sport
- community involvement
- classroom behaviour, attitude and effort.
The staff encourage positive behaviours by awarding merit certificates, which can be redeemed for distinction certificates and, in turn, these can be redeemed for bronze, silver and gold medallions. Distinction certificates and medallions are presented at school assemblies.
Merit certificates are issued for achievement, attitude, participation, behaviour or improvement:
- Sporting ribbons and competition pennants – 2 merit certificates
- maths, English, science competitions – 4 merit certificates
- community service certificates – 4 merit certificates
- A4 size school merit certificates – 4 merit certificates
- 16 merit certificates – 1 distinction certificate
- 5 distinction certificates – 1 bronze medal
- additional 2 distinction certificates – 1 silver medal
- further 2 distinction certificates – 1 gold medal.
