Sport

Our sporting tradition

Randwick Boys' High School has an enviable tradition in the sporting arena. The choice of sports is varied and the success of sporting teams is an achievement of which the school is very proud.

Randwick Boys' has a long tradition of excellence in Rugby Union, having been finalists and winners in the coveted state knockout competitions, The Waratah and Buchan Shields. In recent years, our 1st XV won the Ewart Robson Shield (for top government school in NSW) in 2002 and 2004. In 1994 and 1995 our 1st XV also won the World Schoolboys 10-a-side competition.

Randwick was selected as the Australian representative in the World Schoolboys Championships which were held in Japan in 2002. The school also toured New Zealand, Canada and Queensland for Rugby and engaged in a cricket tour of South Africa. These activities provide unforgettable life experiences for our participants.

Many of our boys have gone on to be selected in State and Australian representative teams. The school has an impressive record as premiers of their zone in many sports.

The school holds an annual carnival for Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics. Attendance at carnivals is compulsory for all students.

Boys compete for individual honours and for their House. The school is divided into four houses, Titans (yellow), Spartans (red), Vikings (green) and Romans (blue) to foster competition at the carnivals.

The first four place getters in each age group at the school carnivals then compete in the zone carnivals. If students perform well, some are selected in the zone team and go on to compete in the regional and state carnivals. We are highly competitive in carnivals and take great pride in representing our school.
