Homework policy

Recommended homework time per subject

Homework is a valuable way to consolidate learning. Meaningful homework may be additional work to give depth to learning or to reinforce learning; it may also be revision and consolidation of the day's lessons. Parents wishing to understand the school's philosophy on homework should consult this section of this site.

Below is a table of recommended homework (in minutes) per subject per week. It reflects the amount of time each subject has in the timetable. If formal homework is not set (and this may sometimes be the case), students should spend time revising their work, identifying questions for work not understood, to ask in the next lesson, and ensuring that their workbooks are up to date and well organised, to assist with future examination preparation.

If parents feel that homework is not sufficient or is too onerous, they should contact the Head Teacher of the faculty concerned to discuss the matter. For more information, please download our Homework Policy (PDF 116KB).
